In one of the first mayoral candidate forums of the election season, mayoral candidates Alderman Robert W. “Bob” Fioretti, businessman Willie Wilson and activist William “Dock” Walls discussed their positions on a range of issues of concern to working class Chicago.

Six candidates running in the brand new 2nd Ward addressed a packed room at the Drake Hotel last Thursday evening.

Watson, the official mascot of the Better Government Association, greeted the four candidates vying for the 1st Ward aldermanic seat during their Jan. 29th debate at Wells High School.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Field Foundation of Illinois, the BGA hosted “Getting the Scoop on Charter Schools” on Wednesday, January 28 at the Portage-Cragin Library.

During its Afternoon Shift program last Thursday, WBEZ-FM posed that question to BGA policy analyst Alden Loury and Sun-Times columnist and ABC7 Chicago political analyst Laura Washington.

For the first Citizen Watchdog Training session of the year, the BGA partnered with DePaul University’s Society of Professional Journalists and Online News Association chapter.
