About BGA Investigations
Investigations are usually the result of information given to the BGA by whistleblowers or other concerned parties. They usually focus on public administration issues, such as the awarding of public contracts or particular instances of waste, fraud or corruption.
Through exposing these cases, the public is able to see more clearly the "cost of corruption": Tax dollars are wasted, and the services they
pay for are diminished. Public awareness of these cases lead to better Public Policy.
Whistleblowers
Investigating and exposing corruption, waste, and inefficiency takes time and resources, such as investigators, technology, and the ability to acquire and analyze public records. More importantly, it requires courageous individuals who see wrongdoing and choose to report it.
Whistleblowers often risk retribution for exposing a flawed system or corrupt individuals. That is why it's vital for investigators and journalists to protect their sources.
The BGA does not reveal its sources without permission and works tirelessly to protect its right to do so.
Submissions via U.S. Mail, phone, to the BGA are confidential.
While anonymous tips are welcome, the likelihood of a successful investigation and the BGA's ability to conduct background research improves significantly when some form of communication is established
